The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted A Two-day National-Level Workshop on“Applications of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)" for the III B.Tech and IV B.Tech students.
A renowned Electrical Engineer, almnus of Banaras Hindu University Dr. G. Kesava Rao, currently Professor in EEE, KL University, Vijayawada, acted as the Chief Guest of this inaugural session and inspired all the participants to rise up to the occasion in the industry. He emphasized the fact that the next industrial revolution will the strongly-tied with Automation through Control Systems and Artificial Intelligence. He suggested every engineer individually and all engineering institutes as a whole should ponder over this Industrial transformation on a large scale by conducting more workshops as the present one and commended the efforts of VVIT for taking the pionnering steps. Prof.G. Kesava Rao also said that all students must learn theory and as well as applications of the subjects in their curriculum. He said Soft Computing is one of the leading technologies that the students must concentrate and opined that this type of workshops helps to create new ideas which lead to developing new inventions as well.
Dr Y. Mallikarjuna Reddy, Principal of VVIT emphasized that this workshops aimed at the Programmable Logic Controllers which is very challenging technology to learn and by using this, modern automation and control can be achieved in a successful way. Dr. Reddy believed that this workshop will be a boon for the students to learn about advanced technologies.
Dr.K. Sudhakara Reddy, Professor ,EEE Department,VVIT stated that they are very happy to organize this two-day national level workshop ahead of all other institutes under the prophetic and magnanimous management of VVIT, who are adept in catering to the needs of its stakeholders in the engineering education. Prof. K. Sudhakar Reddy ensured that the department is always trying to inculcate the new technologies to the students for their better future.
Dr. Chintalapudi Suresh, Professor, Head of EEE Department,VVIT, acted as the Convener for the two-day national workshop and informed that the most used guiding force behind an Automated Industrial Plant is a “Programmable Logic Controller” generally Known as a PLC and these PLCs along with some other necessary ingredients like Sensors, Motors, Actuators, Valves, Conveyors, Boilers, SCADA Systems, Computers & many more, make a real automated manufacturing plants of several areas like food/beverage, metals, power, mining, petrochemical/chemical, etc.
This workshop was conducted for 2 days (30th Jun and 01st July) for EEE, ECE& CSE, IT students who enrolled in good numbers from all over the state and they had been given participation certificates.
Subject Experts from Siemen Company and APSSDC, HODs, faculty and students of EEE of VVIT, and the registered candidates across the state participated in this workshop.
