Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology, under the aegis of its Civil Engineering Department, conducted a 2-Day National workshop on “Advanced Smart Materials And Structural Technologies“ for the budding Civil Engineers, on 21st and 22nd July 2017 , as informed by Sri Vasireddy Vidya Sagar, Chairman of VVIT. Sri Sagar said that this 2-day National-Level workshop is being sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) under Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) of Government of India and concluded today.
Sri Sagar, in this regard informed that Sri A.Ramachandra Murthy, Head, Computational Structural Mechanics Group, CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Center(SERC), Taramani, Chennai and Dr.T.D.Gunneswara Rao, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering Department of NIT Warangal acted as scholarly resource persons during the workshop.
Sri A.Ramachandra Murthy, in his intellectual speeches, highlighted about the making of concrete by Nano-Silica as ingredient. He also explained about the way how these Nano-concrete & other smart materials help in the remarkable improvement of durability of components in the construction industry.
Dr.Gunneswara Rao, during the other sessions enlightened the participants about the latest technologies and elaborated over the analysis tools available in the industry for the assessment of quality of components. He also gave a speech on significance of making sustainable construction and utilization of construction waste in a stupendous way and spellbound the participants.
Sri Rayudu Suresh, Member, Management Committee, VVIT, inaugurated the Exhibition of advanced building materials, building components & architecture models. This exhibition was an icing of the cake in this workshop, which demonstrated various models showcased by different manufacturers , dealers, vendors and architects and highly inspired all the delegates.
Dr.Y.Malliharjuna Reddy, Principal of the Host institute, congratulated the participants on the successful completion of workshop and advised them to inculcate the habit of lifelong learning for their better future.
Dr.T.Sridhar Babu, HOD, Civil Engineering Department , Prof N.Kumaraswamy, Professor , Civil Engineering department and Dean of Academics informed that the vital objectives of this workshop were successfully achieved and this workshop will bring significant changes in the construction business, industry, teaching-learning & research-developement .
